The Lead With Jake Tapper: Maggie Haberman: 'Donald Trump is Not in a Happy Place'

Source:CNN political analyst & New York Times national political reporter.

"Senior political correspondent for the New York Times and CNN political analyst Maggie Haberman joins CNN’s Phil Mattingly to discuss former President Donald Trump seeking retribution against political foes."

From CNN

Look, if I had just been convicted of 34 felonies, and I was in over 500 million dollars in the hole, my own damn family, not even my wife and kids were speaking to me, I would probably be unhappy as well. Well, maybe not the part about the family not wanting to talk to me. (Ha, ha) Even if I knew I was guilty and knew I wasn't above the law, I would probably be very unhappy.

President Richard Nixon about 3 years after he was forced to resign as President of the United States, otherwise be impeached and convicted by Congress and perhaps face criminal prosecution after that, spoke to British journalist David Frost. Everyone who keeps up with American history, perhaps even a junky like myself, already knows about the Watergate and the Frost/Nixon Interviews.

President Nixon when talking about his political downfall with Sir David Frost, told Frost that: "I gave them the sword to stick against me and use it to bring me down." That's a paraphrase.

Since the early 1960s, Richard Nixon had complained about a media bias against him. Saying that they were all out to get him because he didn't have the right educational and cultural background for the snobby and yuppie, Democratic Eastern press. And that's not paranoia on his part. They didn't like him and did want to bring him down.

But the problem that Nixon had was that he personally gave them everything that they needed to bring him down. Starting with the Plumbers Unit in The White House in 1971, which led to Watergate in 1972, the coverup just after that, that leads to Congress stepping in with their own investigation starting in the Senate in 1973 and finishing in the House in 1974.

At least half of the country, maybe 3-5 American simply don't like Donald J. Trump and don't want him to have any power at all in America. He might still win anyway, if left-wing Democrats don't bother to vote, or don't vote for Joe Biden and Independents simply dislike President Biden more.

And Trump is smart enough to know how unpopular he actually is. And yet like a political suicide bomber pilot, he goes out-of-his-way to give more Americans, especially in the mainstream media and in the U.S. Government, as well as in Democratic led government's, like in New York City, Fulton County, Georgia, and the U.S. Government, reason after reason and he leaves evidence all over the place when he commits his crimes, that they really have know choice to use it against him, prosecute him and try to put him away, so he can't commit any more felonies in this country.

As unpopular as Donald Trump is with the mainstream media and the Democratic media, if he simply had just obeyed the law, accepted the election results, not try to overthrow elections, not try to cover up his adulterous affairs with illegal campaign contributions, not try to keep classified documents that he no longer had access to, after he left The White House, they would have no reason whatsoever to go after him the way that they have the last 8 years.
