Connell McShane: ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Returning To ABC

"The Walt Disney Company announced Monday it will resume production of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Tuesday after suspending the late-night talk show last week over what the company called “ill-timed and insensitive” comments regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination."

Source:News Nation with a look at Jimmy Kimmel Live. That's right, he ain't dead yet.

From News Nation

As Ederik Schneider wrote about Jimmy Kimmel's suspension on Friday:

"I mean assuming we survive the Trump Administration (perhaps I should start praying for that everyday) and the next President (hopefully starting in January, 2029) is a pro-Constitution, pro-rule of law... pro-law & order, (if you will President) does MAGA really want a Democratic administration, going after the Greg Gutfeld's, the Sean Hannity's, the Jesse Watters, the Laura Ingraham's? Because they all have bad habits of flat-out lying, or not even knowing what they're even talking about, when they do their commentaries (advertised as news) every night to their audiences.

I would bet anything that 4 years from now, if there is a Democratic administration at that point, MAGA and company will start pretending to be "champions of free speech again", if a Democratic led FCC starts targeting their commentators...

I would say that what ABC is doing here: "Is taking a strong stand for the First Amendment, the free press, after they realized the error of their ways and have decided to make amends with Jimmy Kimmel and every other comedian and commentator who has the big balls to say anything critical about Donald Trump, or any of his allies". But then I would be lying. And we don't do that here at The New Democrat. (At least when we're under oath) So I'm not going to start now.

There's actually something else going on here. Perhaps this expression here is not 100% app, but there's the old expression: "Money talks and bullshit walks".

The money part of this story is all the revenue that Jimmy Kimmel brings in for the American Broadcasting Company (that some know as just ABC) and the fact that ABC doesn't want to lose its $70 million a year, just from the show on air alone. And Ederik pointed out on Friday, they only suspended Kimmel's show because President Trump  and the FCC threaten to take away ABC's broadcasting license away, had they not had suspended Kimmel over his Charlie Kirk "MAGA gang" comments.

The bullshit part in this story from the expression, "money talks and bullshit walks", is the fact that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended over a bad joke that he made about Charlie Kirk in relation to MAGA and the joke fell flat and offended a lot of people.

Imagine if Johnny Carson, Dave Letterman, Dick Cavett, Jay Leno, etc, all got suspended over every bad joke that they made... we wouldn't have any full-time late night talk show hosts 20, 30, 40, years ago. we wouldn’t have any full-time late night talk show hosts 20, 30, 40, years ago, because they would all be getting suspended… perhaps after every show. The best comedian in the world is not going to be funny 100% of the time and at times will offend a lot of people, even when they're funny.

But as long as money still talks in America and we're still at times able to give bullshit a kick in the ass and tell it to get the hell out of here, there will always be room in our country for the Jimmy Kimmel's and other comedians like him.

Connell McShane: Donald Trump Goading JB Pritzker Into Confrontation: Geraldo Rivera

"As President Donald Trump and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker continue to trade barbs over the possibility of National Guard troops in Chicago, NewsNation contributor Geraldo Rivera says Pritzker may be taking Trump’s bait."

Source:News Nation talking to longtime talk show host and TV anchor, Geraldo (don't ever call me Gerry, if you know what's good for you) Rivera.

From News Nation

At risk of sounding like Chris Cuomo (who is also a News Nation anchor) and sound like I'm trying to have it both ways and agree with both sides here, or argue that "both sides are at fault", etc... I'm going to take that risk anyway and for this reason: Geraldo Rivera is right that this Federal takeover of big cities when it comes to their law enforcement, is a distraction for Democrats. But I just wouldn't use the language that he would used here.

I think the best way to describe Donald John Trump as a politician, is that he's a machine gun politician. Because the President is a machine gun politician, he can do so much damage, to so many people and things, including our most valuable and important institutions, that his opponents never have the time and resources to focus on every important bad thing that he does.

That's 1 way you can govern in this country with a 40% (give or take) approval rating and a 55% (give or take disapproval rating) because the people (at least anyone who pays attention to all his irresponsible nonsense) see 1 bad thing, or several at a time and simply don't have the time to get all the information that they need about every bad action that Machine Gun Trump takes.

The President can strike so many people and things and the exact same time, that his opponents, including Republicans, don't have the time or resources to focus on everything and leave out important issues, like the Federal takeovers of municipal police departments, when Democrats should really just be talking about Donald Trump's tariff driven, weak economy and his attempted coverup up the Epstein files. If Democrats leaders, including governors, were politically smart (and it never snowed in Chicago again) they would not put this police takeover aside... but what they would essentially say is something like:

"Our crimes rates are actually lower than what you see in rural red states and small towns. (On a per-capita base) We completely disagree with this Federal overreach here and we're going to see President Trump to court on this".

And move on to bigger and more important things, like the bad Trump economy and the coverup of the Epstein files.

But since since a lot of these Democratic politicians are so politically inept, (stupid, would be more accurate) and perhaps can only get elected in deep blue states like Illinois and can sound like dishwashers trying to give a lecture on how to perform brain surgery, or Donald Trump trying to give a lecture on aviation (which he actually tried to do) as far as how they practice politics, they get the media talking about how they much they dislike President Trump, as well as crime in big, blue cities... but also calling him every name in the book that they can possibly think of, while they're doing live press conferences. Which might be good for the left-wing, partisan base of the Democratic Party, but hurts them everywhere else, perhaps even with their own voters.

News Nation: Bill O’Reilly: ‘I Don’t Have Any Progressive Friends’

Source:News Nation- left to right: Chris Cuomo & Bill O'Reilly. Yes, that Chris Cuomo & Bill O'Reilly.

"On his podcast “No Spin News,” author Bill O’Reilly said: “I don’t have any progressive friends anymore. They’re gone because I can’t stomach them.” NewsNation host Chris Cuomo asks: Whatever happened to being able to have disagreements with your friends, even if they differ politically? O’Reilly said: “As I get older … my tolerance for irrationality becomes smaller.”

As I argued last Friday in my post about Liberals and Conservatives on The New Democrat, for political labels to mean anything and not just be verbal darts that people throw at each other, almost as political insults, or attempts for one to hide their own real politics, they have to be used correctly.

Bill O'Reilly is not actually talking about Progressives or Liberals here. Even though he uses both of those labels to talk about radical leftists:

"Far-left politics, also known as the radical left or extreme left, are politics further to the left on the left–right political spectrum than the standard political left. The term does not have a single, coherent definition; some scholars consider it to represent the left of social democracy, while others limit it to the left of communist parties. In certain instances—especially in the news media—far left has been associated with some forms of authoritarianism, anarchism, communism, and Marxism, or are characterized as groups that advocate for revolutionary socialism and related communist ideologies, or anti-capitalism and anti-globalization. Far-left terrorism consists of extremist, militant, or insurgent groups that attempt to realize their ideals through political violence rather than using democratic processes."

From Wikipedia

To their credit, (and I give MAGA credit for anything positive as often as Seattle runs out of coffee or Detroit runs out of automobiles) MAGA and all their media outlets, including their cult leader Donald Trump, doesn't describe radical leftists (Socialists and Communists) as Liberals or Progressives anymore either. They call them radical leftists or extreme leftists. It's really just the mainstream media, the network news divisions, as well as CNN and MSNBC on cable, the national, mainstream newspapers, that still call these hardcore leftists, Progressives and in some cases Liberals.

But to Bill O'Reilly's point about not being able to be friends with any radical leftists, (my words, not his) I actually agree with him. I would have a helluva hard time, don't even think it would be worth the effort to have a friendship, with someone who thinks Israeli civilians, or any civilians, from any other country, are the real terrorists and HAMAS are the freedom fighters. Or that the Houthi terrorists in Yemen, are the real victims and the American military are the real terrorists.

Just like I would have a hard time being friendly with people who think that the Ku Klux Klan or Nazis are freedom fighters, and civil rights marchers and organizers, are the real terrorists and criminals. But that's me.

Now, I might have a conversation (especially on social media) with these folks, if I didn't think they're were drunk or high on drugs, escaped mental patients, or something. But that would probably be mostly for my own personal entertainment. Because they're so hard to take seriously and simply can't handle contradicting facts, to their own fringe ideology. They live in their own little world when it comes to facts and evidence.

If you are actually interested in knowing what a real Progressive is and what they're about, I tell you anyway: Progressives are people who believe in progress, pure and simple. Not people who believe in government totalization and who see that individual freedom and personal choice are threats to society. Or anyone whose from any minority group, has some constitutional right to never be criticized, or to be made fun of, or face any legal sanctions anytime that there's evidence that they're responsible for any serious crime.

To give you a more official definition of what it means to be a Progressive:

Progressive: "of, relating to, or characterized by progress"

News Nation: 'Director Rob Reiner Says He Has Proof Four Men Killed JFK'

Source:News Nation- Hollywood actor, director, and comedian Rob Reiner. Not investigative reporter, documentarian, or detective Rob Reiner. Unless he played those roles on TV, in his films.

"Reiner claims he can name the four men who shot JFK

The official narrative says JFK was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald

Over the decades, many have questioned if Oswald acted alone

(NewsNation) — In a gripping exploration of what he calls “America’s great murder mystery,” renowned actor and director Rob Reiner has launched a 10-part podcast series titled “Who Killed JFK,” aiming to unravel the truth behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

In an interview on “NewsNation Prime,” Reiner claims he has proof that four men were involved in Kennedy’s assassination in 1963.

Many have speculated about the number of shooters involved in the JFK assassination. Official investigations determined Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole gunman on Nov. 22, 1963. The president was riding in an open-top motorcade in Dallas when he was shot from the sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository.

Unsolved: The JFK Assassination | A NewsNation Special Report
Reiner claims not only does he know there was more than one shooter, but he is prepared to identify the shooters and their locations.

The podcast, hosted by journalist Soledad O’Brien, promises to shed light on the enigmatic event that has lingered in the American psyche for over six decades.

Reiner, famous for directing classics such as “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Princess Bride,” shared his personal connection to the tragedy during the interview.

“I was 16 years old when it happened, and it never left me,” he revealed, emphasizing the lasting impact the assassination had on the nation.

He said the key to his theory is a first shot that missed the motorcade.

Reiner claims JFK’s death was part of a conspiracy that included the CIA and government officials including then Vice President Lyndon Johnson. After the shooting, Oswald claimed to be a patsy and his assassination by Jack Ruby led many people to question the official findings.

The podcast is framed as a comprehensive effort to compile 60 years’ worth of information, presenting a cohesive narrative of the events leading up to Kennedy’s death in Dallas. Reiner expressed his motivation for the deep dive, stating, “If a loved one of yours was murdered, you’d want to know who did it and why.

Despite acknowledging that a definitive smoking gun may never surface, Reiner asserted that the podcast aims to name the multiple shooters involved in the assassination. Drawing on years of research, interviews with forensic experts, and visits to key locations, the podcast seeks to provide a clearer picture of the events of that fateful day.

“Over the course of 60 years, you start putting a picture together. You start getting a full picture of what actually happened that day,” he said.

What a former CIA employee’s memo reveals about Lee Harvey Oswald
Reiner also delved into his collaboration with O’Brien, highlighting the significance of partnering with someone who experienced the aftermath of the assassination in a different context. O’Brien, born three years after the event, provided a fresh perspective, having grown up with the prevailing narrative that Oswald acted alone.

NewsNation recently presented accounts from firsthand witnesses and investigators who have questioned the official narrative. Among those was Paul Landis, a Secret Service agent at the time who told NewsNation he picked up a bullet from the car and took it into the trauma room. That bullet was not the one found in Connelly’s thigh.

In statements in the 1960s, Landis had said he did not go into the trauma room with First Lady Jackie Kennedy.

Sixty years after the fact, people are still seeking clarity and the release of information related to JFK’s death. An estimated 320,000 documents related to the assassination have been released to the public, with just over 4,600 remaining classified.

JFK assassination remembered 60 years later by surviving witnesses
Reiner stressed the need for the American people to uncover the truth, suggesting that understanding the events of that day could contribute to rebuilding trust in the government.

Many of the questions center around footage captured by Abraham Zapruder, which was unavailable to the public until 1975. Based on the footage, Reiner rejects the narrative that the same bullet that struck Kennedy also hit Texas Governor John Connelly, who was in the front of the car.

Connelly, who survived the attack, said it was not the same bullet that struck him and continued to maintain there was more than one bullet until his death in the 1990s.

Another film shot by Orville Nix Sr. also captured the assassination and stills from that footage have circulated but the location of the original is unknown. Nix’s grandaughter, Gail Nix Jackson, is suing the National Archives on the grounds they mishanled the film.

Reiner is not naming the shooters until the final episodes of the 10-part podcast."

From News Nation

"Rob Reiner, the legendary actor and director known for beloved movies like "When Harry Met Sally?" and "The Princess Bride," is now addressing the JFK assassination. He joins “NewsNation Prime,” to talk about his new podcast, "Who Killed J.F.K.?" with journalist Soledad O'Brien, which aims to reveal the truth surrounding the death of Kennedy. The 10-part series is currently underway, and according to Reiner, it will eventually identify the multiple shooters involved in the assassination."

Talk about your slow news days: here I'm writing about the latest Hollywood conspiracy theory about "who really assassinated President John F. Kennedy".

I want to be careful here, because similar to Rob Reiner's father Carl Reiner, I have a lot of respect for him as an actor, comedian, director. I think he's one of the best entertainers of his generation, similar to how his father was one of the best entertainers of his generation. But that pretty much ends my level of respect for him.

In this so-called interview that didn't even last 5 minutes, where the supposed interviewer just let Rob Reiner talk and didn't ask him any followup questions, where Mr. Reiner spent maybe half that time just talking about where he was on that horrible, November day, in 1963 and what he was doing etc, Mr. Reiner doesn't bother to offer any evidence for why he believes someone other than Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President Kennedy.

But, if you go to the News Nation article about this story, (which is linked on this post) you'll see them suggesting that then Vice President Lyndon Johnson and the CIA, were involved in taking out the President.

So we're just back to one of those left-wing conspiracy theories about who really assassinated President John F. Kennedy, because Socialists still can't live with the fact that one of their own took out one of the most personally popular, and perhaps most pop culture relevant President that we've ever had in America.

Mr. Reiner did say that 4 men supposedly assassinated President Kennedy. But where's the beef on that? And then he admitted that we'll never have the smoking gun on who really assassinated John F. Kennedy. The only accurate statement that he's made about this story. So admitting that there's no smoking gun on who really murdered John F. Kennedy, Mr. Reiner is admitting that he has no proof on really assassinated JFK.
