The state is moving away from its presumptive status as a Bible Belt state of the West. Conservative libertarian values, which are fundamentally in conflict with evangelical christian tenets, are still alive in Arizona. Senators Barry Goldwater, John McCain and Jeff Flake worked very hard to prevent his vile, homophobic bill from becoming law.
