In case anyone in the world (who is not in their right mind, is currently drunk, high, in a mental institution, throwing a few back right now in a closet) missed The Rambling Don, he just made a reappearance at this joint news conference with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz. The President was given a simple question about Elon Musk and he turned it into how great and fabulous he thinks he is and perfect a job he's doing, with at best, a lot of misleading comments.

The President was asked a basic question about why Elon Musk is now speaking out against him. He sort of answered that question by saying that Mr. Musk didn't like the fact that House Republicans stripped the electric vehicle subsidy from the "Big Beautiful Bill. (That we call the Big Ugly Debt Bomb) That might be part of it, since Tesla makes EV's. But he went to The White House with the goal of eliminating $1T from the budget deficit, with his DOGE and they maybe found 5% of that instead. But to make it worst, their budget plan would add over $2T to the deficit. (According to the Republican controlled Congressional Budget Office) 

Plus the fact, Elon Musk and his company Tesla are now worth 1/2 a trillion dollars less, than they were just in December of 2024. (According to Investors Business Daily) So if you are Mr. Musk right now, you could be thinking: 

"What did I donate 6 months of life for to Donald Trump? To fend off being deported by a President Kamala Harris? Is that worth 1/2 trillion of my own money?"

OK, Elon Musk is still alive and fairly well, (for Elon Musk) but that's not the point of Rick Wilson's book. The point here is that anyone who goes into business with Donald Trump... at least if they had a successful career and good reputation, pre-Donald Trump, gets screwed on the backend by Donald Trump and gets stuck with a bag of monopoly money and worthless merchandise. (Whatever metaphor you want to use) And that's what's happened to Mr. Musk and that's why he's reacting to the President the way he is. It has very little with anything that The Rambling Don had to say at this joint press meeting with Chancellor Merz.

"In his first news conference since the aircraft collision over the Potomac River, President Donald Trump on Thursday implied that diversity, equity and inclusion programs could be the cause, although an investigation has only just begun into the fatal disaster.

“We have to have our smartest people” as air traffic controllers, Trump said Thursday morning. “It doesn’t matter what they look like, how they speak, who they are. ... They have to be talented, naturally talented. Geniuses. Can’t have regular people doing their job. We can’t have regular people doing this job. They won’t be able to do it, but we’ll restore faith in American air travel.”

Trump spent a considerable amount of time discussing the Federal Aviation Administration's DEI initiatives, particularly under Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama. He cited the FAA's acknowledgment of the underemployment of employees with disabilities.

A week before he took office, Trump said the FAA website said "people with severe disabilities are the most underrepresented segment of the workforce, that they want them" to be "air traffic controllers. I don’t think so."

Trump also railed against former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who served under Biden, calling him a “disaster.” But under questioning from reporters, Trump stopped short of outright blaming the programs for the midair...

Just to start this off with a couple points about President Trump and then I'll get into what I really want to say after that.

I would be the last person that you would think is some metrosexual hipster who's always thinking about my personal experience and always making sure I look as cool as possible and everything about my personal appearance is perfect. But as soon as the President starts his press conference, you can see that something is obviously not right with him physically. And then from the image that The New Democrat has of the President here, his right eye almost looks swollen, like he was just in a fist fight. And this is well before his Rambling Don character returns and he's essentially trying to give a lecture about transportation safety (a subject he's knows very little about) off the cuff, in front of a live national TV audience. 

And then the President's hair and lips are sort of yellow, while his skin is orange. And he looks like he didn't go to bed at all last night as well. And this is how he presents himself to the American people as President of the United States, in front of a national TV audience. 

And then my 2nd point here and this gets to even why Republicans and Independents who voted for this man, do not like him. 13-14 hours after this tragic airplane crash over the Potomac River in Washington, he's already looking for anyone else in the world, that he can blame for it, besides himself and anyone who is currently connected to him, for this horrible crash, before the Federal Aviation Administration can even start their investigation for why and how this happened. 

Donald J. Trump is obviously not Harry S. Truman. (Also in the news: Roseanne Barr is not Michelle Obama) President Truman was famous for saying "The buck stops here". Meaning that the President of the United States is responsible for everything that happens in his administration. They get the credit when things go well in their administration, or generally do. And then they're responsible when things go badly in their administration. 

With President Trump "The buck stops with anyone else when things go badly". And when things go well "The buck stops with me and only me". 

According to the National Transportation Safety Board: 

"The last fatal crash involving a U.S. commercial airline occurred in 2009 in New York, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. Everyone aboard the Bombardier DHC-8 propeller plane was killed, including 45 passengers, 2 pilots and 2 flight attendants." 

I'm not a fan of what's called affirmative action or DEI either. I think the best jobs and education slots should go to the best available people possible, regardless of their ethnic or racial backgrounds, or their gender. And that we have the best civil rights law enforcement possible, as well as the best education possible, especially for people who come from lower education and low-income communities, regardless of their racial and ethnic backgrounds. 

And you can talk about DEI all you want... we didn't have a major plane crash during the entire presidency of Joe Biden. We had 1 during the first year of Barack Obama's presidency, before DEI became a well-known political term and President Obama didn't have another 1 after that. During President Trump's 1st week back as President, he ends all DEI hiring. And the 2nd week, we have this horrible plane crash on his watch.

I think it's obvious why President Trump is jumping the gun and already looking to blame anyone else and anyone who isn't connected to his administration for last night's plane crash. He knows how bad this makes him and his administration look and how it could hurt him politically. Sean Duffy was sworn in as Secretary of Transportation literally yesterday and this plane crash happens just hours later. Which I guess is sort like buying a new house and you go to that place that night to spend your first night there, but there's just 1 problem: the house is already on fire. 

Intelligent, competent, responsible, well-qualified people in power, wait for the investigation to at least get started and for real facts to come out, before they look for someone to blame for whatever the tragedy is. But I guess that's not what American voters were looking for in 2024 when they voted for President of the United States. They were looking for someone to "shake things up, who won't be boring". And that's what they're getting. They're getting what they voted for.

Senator Markwayne Mullin: How Many Senators Have Shown Up Drunk To Vote At Night?

The Oklahoma Republican went on to slam lawmakers for inquiring about whether infidelity in Hegseth’s marriages could be disqualifying for the Cabinet position, arguing that multiple politicians divorced spouses under similar circumstances.

“How many senators do you know have got a divorce before cheating on their wives? Did you ask them to step down? No, but it’s for show,” Mullin said. “You guys make sure you make a big show and point out the hypocrisy, because a man’s made a mistake, and you want to sit there and say that he’s not qualified...

At the end of the day, it's really just the people of Oklahoma and I guess the person that Senator Markwayne Mullins sees in the mirror, that he has to answer to who they see in the mirror. Because we don't have national elections for Congress. (House or Senate) They're all done by district and state. And if a majority of Oklahoma voters have no issues about 1 of their U.S. Senators being nothing more than a puppet of Donald Trump, instead of representing their state in Congress, then I imagine Senator Mullin will be easily reelected when he's up for reelection, if he chooses to run for reelection. 

But keep in mind, when we went through the Matt Gaetz confirmation political soap opera back in November and December, Senator Mullin was 1 of the 1st, if not first Republican Senator to say that he couldn't vote for Representative Gaetz to be the next Attorney General of the United States, because he didn't think Representative Gaetz was qualified to be Attorney General. 

But go up 4-6 weeks later and now you would think that Markwayne Mullin got into line and waited almost a month to kiss Donald Trump's feet (to keep this clean) in public and now he finally got his opportunity. And decides to take that shot by accusing his fellow U.S. Senators (that he didn't name individually) of being alcoholics. Why? Because there's evidence that the current nominee for Secretary of Defense is not, or at least has been, a hardcore alcohol drinker, if not alcoholic. Who is now up for 1 of the most stressful jobs in the U.S. Government. 

I would think only being President  and perhaps Attorney General are the only more stressful jobs in the entire U.S. Government. (But Speaker of the House Mike Johnson might disagree with that right now) And what do hard drinkers do when they're under stress? They drink! They get loaded! 

I'm not a religious man, (I guess that comes from being Agnostic) so I don't use religious expressions very often. But what Senator Mullin did today, was essentially admit that's he's a puppet of Donald Trump and acknowledge that Pete Hegseth is not just a hardcore drinker, or at the very least has been 1 in the past, but he's had real problems with women in the past. 

But then Senator Mullin takes it a step further by basically saying: 

"Who here isn't a hardcore drinker and has had issues with women in the past, cheated on their wives, etc..." He's basically saying that it's OK to be a womanizer and perhaps even women beater, and maybe even an alcoholic, because they're all done those those things. Because it's not like people become Secretary of Defense to relax or go on vacation. It's a stressful job and guys need to be guys and need to relax. 

Speaking of puppets: Senator Mullin and I are the same age. So we both, or I certainly remember growing up with The Muppets on PBS in the 1980s. 1 of the few shows that my parents let me watch when I was really young. If Markwayne Mullin was like 10 years older, he could've been the star of that show. But the old expression "elections have consequences", perfectly applies here. This is who Oklahoma has chosen to represent them in the Senate. And the rest of the country has to live with that.

I don't mean to sound partisan here, but I guess in this day and political age that's sometimes is just unavoidable. But Senator Romney's speech is 1 of the most anti-Donald Trump speeches that I've ever heard. Even though it's just a little more than 8 minutes.

The Senator starts off the speech praising people that he believe have achieved great things on their own. That's not the anti-Trump part. But then the Senator goes into talking about what he's done in his life, what he's achieved and talking about all the people who helped him and the people he's relied on and thanking them for their service. Whereas Donald Trump is always talking about how great he believes he is and claiming that he's never made a single mistake in his life. 

If you are familiar with The New Democrat, you know which approach we prefer and that we're completely anti-Donald Trump. So I don't need to endorse or criticize either the Romney or Trump approach here for you to figure out where I am on this. 

As far as Senator Romney's speech, I think it's safe to say that Mr. Romney Goes To Washington wasn't a pleasant experience for him. Safe to say that he's probably 1 of the 9-10 American voters who don't approve of the job that Congress is doing. Even though he's a current member of Congress, until January 3rd, 2025. 

Senator Romney came to Washington to get good things done for Utah and work with his colleagues to do that. And laid out some of his successes. But the U.S. Congress right now, is just another spinoff and part of Donald Trump's political reality show. It's not about serving the people on this show. It's about advancing your own career and serving Donald Trump, if you want a long, successful, career, as a Republican politician. 

The days of Howard Baker, Bob Michael, Tip O'Neal, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, George Mitchell, and Tom Foley... (two former President's and the rest being former Congressional leaders) all these folks getting together and hammering out deals to move the country forward and to serve their country together, are over. 

This is not the 1970s or 80s anymore. This is not even the 1990s when Bill Clinton could cut deals in private with Newt Gingrich, after a lot of partisan bickering (and perhaps alcohol) first. We're now about to enter Season 9 of Donald Trump's Political Reality TV Show in Washington. And this is just not the political show for the Mitt Romney's of the world anymore.

Before I get into sounding like I'm simply bashing Carl Higbie and basically accusing him of speaking out of his ass, (to be frank) I want to get into where I actually agree with him. Which should be shocking enough for you. I mean, let's face it Carl Higbie is a Newsmax host. I agree with them on anything, about as often as Seattle runs out of coffee and water, or Hollywood runs out of celebrities and scandals, Millennials take a break from social media and staring at their phones. Almost never. 

He's right about the (let's call them) woke-left. But I think most of that has to do with American culture, especially pop culture more than anything else. I'm about 10 years older than him and I'm having a hard time finding a lot of the programming and movies that I grew up with, simply because you have far-left, radical feminists, who simply think shows like the Dukes of Hazzard is either racist or sexist, if not both and the same thing with The Fall Guy, which just recently made it back into reruns on the Heroes & Icons network. 

Even though the Dukes of Hazzard and The Fall Guy are two shows that are actually very popular with the American people as a whole. But you have beautiful, sexy women, wearing very tight outfits on every episode of these shows. And even though America as a whole loves these shows, the militant feminists of today have enough clout to keep them off the air. At least until recently.

As far as the woke-left in the military: Joe Biden is President of the United States. He's more hawkish than Donald J. Trump could ever possibly dream of being. Donald got out of military service because of bone spurs. Joe Biden either as a U.S. Senator, Vice President of the United States, or now as President Biden, has a personal relationship with both military and foreign service, going back 50 plus years, when he was originally elected to Congress. While Donald Trump feels the need to be loved and share love stories with our foreign dictators.

As my colleague Fred Schneider pointed out yesterday: 

"On a day where both House and Senate Republicans were hopefully trying to get behind some unifying, Republican, national, agenda, that he and Congressional Republicans could run together on, DJT shows them his very own nationally, syndicated, daily talk show, that's all about himself and everything that sucks in his world."

We covered this yesterday. But one good point that House Minority Leader Jeffries made here was that Congressional Republicans (House & Senate) are now going to have to run with Donald Trump for reelection, with reproductive rights, and American democracy literally on the ballot. And he's saying that the Democratic Party believes in those American values and the MAGA Party doesn't it. 

If the 2024 presidential election is about whether American voters like President Joe Biden and the job that he's doing, regardless of who his opponent is and what the next Congress could look like, if his opponent wins, President Biden probably loses. 

But if this is about Donald Trump and MAGA and what they would do, if they're ever back in power, (God help us, is that ever happens again) then Democrats will probably not just win, but you'll see a reelected President Biden and a Democratic Congress next year. If Democrats, including left-wing Democrats, simply get out and vote and vote foe Democrats in the general elections.

I just have to start off by saying: the balls of some people. I mean here's the guy who led the 2021 insurrection on Congress and Senate Minority Mitch McConnell who was leading the Senate Republicans back in 2021 as well, welcomes him back to the U.S. Capitol to talk his conference 42 months later. Not so much on Mitch McConnell, but Donald J. Trump literally visiting the scene of his crimes at a place he hasn't been to in perhaps 4 years, when he was still President of the United States.

As far as Donald Trump saying that there's "tremendous unity in the Republican Party right now", he says he never jokes, but a lot of what he says sounds like it could be a comedic monologue from a straight-faced comedian. 

I think what that really is, is DJT saying that there's tremendous unity in his MAGA movement behind him right now. Because according to DJT and his MAGA members, if you are not MAGA, you are not a real Republican. 

But you can also see why Donald Trump never became an investigative reporter. Because to say that MAGA support him tremendously, is like saying it's going to get dark at night tonight. Not what you would call breaking news. Not even CNN would consider that to be breaking news.

Steve Bannon: 'There's Nothing That Can Shut Me Up'

"Steve Bannon speaks to reporters in Washington, after being ordered by a federal judge to reporter to prison by July 1. Bannon was convicted for defying a January 6 Committee subpoena and sentenced to four months in prison. "There's nothing that can shut me up and nothing that will shut me up. There's not a prison built or a jail built that will ever shut me up...we're going to win on November 5th in an amazing landslide."

"At the time, Bannon contended he did not comply because of executive privilege concerns raised by Trump and said that his former attorney had advised him not to respond to the subpoena because of the potential privilege. 

Before the trial, Nichols — a Trump appointee — ordered Bannon not to tell the jury about the advice of his counsel because of binding precedent that set a legal definition of willful default on a subpoena. After his conviction, the judge sentenced Bannon to four months in prison but held off on actually imposing the ruling, concluding it was "likely" the conviction would be overturned. 

Bannon's defense subsequently appealed the conviction.

Last month, an appeals court disagreed with his arguments and ruled Bannon's "'advice of counsel' defense is no defense at all." The three-judge panel in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld the jury's conviction and wrote the defense he sought was "unavailable under this statute."

So Steve Bannon's defense here is basically: "President Donald Trump claimed executive privilege on the conversations that I had with him about Jan. 6. That's why I din't comply with the House subpoena to speak in front of their Jan. 6 committee." 

The big problem that he has here (and I'm not a lawyer) and you can see why he keeps losing his appeals, is that Steve Bannon in January, 2021, didn't work for The White House or any part of the Trump Administration. Donald Trump fired him in the summer of 2017. 

Mr. Bannon was just a private citizen during the entire presidential election season of 2020 and the transition period from November, 2020 when Joe Biden was elected President of the United States, defeating President Trump, till the day that President Trump's term expired and Joe Biden becomes President Joe Biden. And the Jan. 6 insurrection attempt happened 2 weeks before Mr. Biden is sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, succeeding President Trump. 

Any rookie, criminal defense lawyer in Washington, who represents people who've worked in and outside of the U.S. Government, will tell you that executive privilege doesn't apply to private citizens. Whatever you think of Steve Bannon (and I see him as far-right militant trying to overthrow the U.S. Government) he's obviously a very intelligent man, with both a U.S. Naval and business background, who rose to the rank of Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He has to know that he didn't have executive privilege here. 

Besides, even if Steve Bannon is a total idiot, (and the sun never comes out in Arizona) ignorance of the law is never excuse for breaking the law. And even if he got bad legal advise and that's the reason why he didn't comply with his House subpoena, that gives him justification to sue his lawyer. Not ignore a Congressional subpoena.

"Jim Crow laws were a collection of state and local statutes that legalized racial segregation. Named after a Black minstrel show character, the laws—which existed for about 100 years, from the post-Civil War era until 1968—were meant to marginalize African Americans by denying them the right to vote, hold jobs, get an education or other opportunities. Those who attempted to defy Jim Crow laws often faced arrest, fines, jail sentences, violence and death.

The roots of Jim Crow laws began as early as 1865, immediately following the ratification of the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery in the United States.

Black codes were strict local and state laws that detailed when, where and how formerly enslaved people could work, and for how much compensation. The codes appeared throughout the South as a legal way to put Black citizens into indentured servitude, to take voting rights away, to control where they lived and how they traveled and to seize children for labor purposes. 

The legal system was stacked against Black citizens, with former Confederate soldiers working as police and judges, making it difficult for African Americans to win court cases and ensuring they were subject to Black codes.

These codes worked in conjunction with labor camps for the incarcerated, where prisoners were treated as enslaved people. Black offenders typically received longer sentences than their white equals, and because of the grueling work, often did not live out their entire sentence."

At risk of being called a racist by any far-leftist who happens to see this: House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sounding all ghetto and hip hop on the U.S. House floor. Hakeem Jeffries and I are from the same generation. He's about 5-6 years older than me and I was in high school when that song came out in 1992 and I was even moderate hip hop fan at that point. (Don't judge a man by his German name and background) So I'm pretty familiar with this Ice Cube song and what it's about. 

I guess they didn't teach history where Bryon Donalds went to high school in New York City in the 1990s. If he really thinks African-Americans were better off under Jim Grow, he should get into that MAGA political time machine that wants to take the country back to the 1950s and 40s when it comes to race, ethnicity, culture, lifestyle, women's place in the world. But go back to the 1920s instead and try to introduce himself to Jim Crow as a young, African-American man, perhaps the son, or grandson of African slaves and see if he can even survive that experience.

Representative Eric Swalwell: 'You Might Be In a Cult'

"A clip of Representative Eric Swalwell accusing Republicans of being in a "cult" for supporting former President Donald Trump went viral on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Swalwell, a California Democrat and frequent Trump critic, delivered a monologue attacking Republicans during a House Judiciary Committee hearing in which members of Congress heard testimony from Attorney General Merrick Garland. Trump's legal battles were a point of contention during the hearing, as Republicans have accused prosecutors of targeting the former president for political purposes amid his 2024 presidential campaign.

Last week, a New York City jury found Trump guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business documents to cover up an alleged hush money payment to adult film actor Stormy Daniels. The trial and verdict sparked outrage from conservatives.

On Tuesday, Swalwell equated their defense of Trump despite the verdict to members of a cult during the hearing.

"If you believe in states' rights, except when a jury in that state convicts your nominee for president, you might be in a cult. If you claim you back the blue but want to defund the police when the police go to your nominee's house to retrieve national security secrets, you might be in a cult," he said. 

He continued to say that Republicans who support Trump despite having "felony convictions that prevent him from going to" several countries "might be in a cult," listing the countries Trump may face a travel ban due to his conviction. 

A Republican lawmaker tried to interrupt this list, asking for his words to be struck from the record, but Swalwell continued speaking. Meanwhile, Representative Jim Jordan was slamming the gavel, warning that Swalwell's time was up."

"The New Democrat has been arguing this for at least a year now, if not all the way back to when Donald Trump became President of the United States. This MAGA movement, as they call themselves (that we call Mass Army of Gigantic Assholes) is America's version of these Islamist's movements in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, etc. They're not a real political movements in the sense that they have deep, political principles, baed on evidence, facts, and law, or anything to do with the U.S. Constitution. 

MAGA is simply about preserving Donald J. Trump's freedom and ability to keep this nationalistic, corporatist, political movement alive... 

But to go to Representative Swalwell's point about states rights: You can't credibly say you believe in states rights, when you want the Federal Government to interfere in how local jurisdictions enforce their own laws. 

It would be like a person saying that their next door neighbor has the right to do anything that they want to with their own property, just as long as he or she doesn't have to see it, or as long as they like it: "You can play whatever music you want over there. Just as long as I like it." 

And House Judiciary Republicans can strike down Representative Swalwell's words all they want. But the text and video of this speech will always be around.

As I wrote about this crazy story back in back in March: 

"As the ABC News Congressional reporter said in the video: when you file a privileged motion to vacate the Speaker of the House, the House has to vote on that motion within two days, regardless of who files the motion and whether they're a majority or minority member of the House. 

The Greene motion is not a privileged motion. So, she might just be putting Speaker Mike Johnson "on notice here", or she might done her own whip count and can count high enough to see that most of the House Republicans would vote against it and a lot of House Democrats as well. And she doesn't want to look even dumber and crazier than she already does. But that's just my theory. "

Just a quick point about this first: the Greene motion in the House from March wasn't a privileged motion. Meaning the House never had to vote on it. What's different now, is that Representative Taylor Greene's motion is now a privileged motion. She filed it today and the House has to vote on it next week. Even if she's the only member of the House who votes for it. Well, her, Representative Tom Massie, Representative Matt Gaetz, and perhaps Representative Chip Roy, and maybe the so-called "Squad" out of 431-432 current U.S. Representatives. 

But to go to what House Minority Jeffries said: "Marjorie Taylor Greene is the star of the show. The show is called Republicans Gone Wild." As I mentioned a couple weeks ago about Hakeem Jeffries: 

"Hakeem Jeffries has an excellent, pretty quick, sense of humor. At least political wit. And if you follow him on social media, you really see that everyday. He called House Republicans "Moscow Marjorie Taylor Greene", Matt Gaetz, and Paul Gosar "quite a group" and did that with a smirk on his face. Meaning, that wasn't a complement. “Quite a group” is a step down from “distinguished gentleman” or “distinguished gentlelady”. But 2, he was also holding back. But 2, he was holding back."

The only thing that I would amend about the Jeffries statement here is that this is not the "Republicans Gone Wild". Yes, they're all registered Republicans. But you could register at a lovers nest under an assume name and then later claim that you were never actually registered at that hotel, because you didn't use your real name. Possible titles for this political reality TV show are: 

Not even sure if this real life, political reality TV show, where Marjorie Taylor Greene who at the very least is the Washington producer, director, and star of, is: "MAGA Gone Wild" 

It just might be more like: "MAGA Militants Gone Wild" where some of them are actually armed. 

Or: "Escaped Mental Patients Invade Washington To Take a Bite Out of Sanity." As if there are not enough crazy people already in Washington. 

As far as Representative Greene's point about Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Jeffries setting up a "uni-party": A uni-party to do what: 

Prevent the government from shutting down? 

Prevent the government from defaulting? 

Helping our allies fend off fascist dictators from stealing their land and ethnic-cleansing them? 

Does Representative Greene really want the whole country to see how stupid and crazy her own colleagues, even in the House Republican Conference, think of her? It's not just the House Democrats and the mainstream media who view her as a crazy idiot, who should be sent back to her room to get the help that she needs.

Just a few side points first and then I'll get into what the House Minority Leader is saying here.

Imagine visiting a mental hospital, or a criminal forensic hospital, where the criminally insane inmates are sent. And you are in the day room (hopefully with excellent security) and there are like 3 out of like 20 mental patients there that really stand out from all the rest. And you are thinking something to the effect: "They're a different level of crazy." 

Representatives Matt Gaetz and Paul Gosar, just might completely stupid and simply not qualified and too irresponsible to be serving in government at all, let alone the U.S. House of Representatives. But Moscow Marg (referring to Marjorie Taylor Greene) I think is that different level of crazy. Or, she could just be a complete idiot. I'll let you make that call on that one. 

As far as Leader Jeffries statement on Speaker Mike Johnson and what looks like a motion to vacate the Speaker after the national security bill passes on Saturday: Congressional politics is a poker game. I would be surprised if Leader Jeffries would publicly announce: "That if Speaker Johnson brings the Ukraine aid bill to the floor and it passes, I'll deliver the votes to save his job for him." That would be like a QB on a football team announcing to the defense what play they'll be running before they run it. But that's what he's saying here, if you read between the political lines here. Pass the Ukraine aid bill and all the other must-passed bills, no more chaos in the House this year and Mike Johnson can remain Speaker.

Asking Donald Trump to keep a secret, is like asking a goldfish to go without water, or asking a dolphin (not the Miami Dolphins) to run the New York Marathon. He's not what you would call a poker player. At least not a successful poker player. He just laid out his entire defense for his upcoming Manhattan trial. And that's assuming Judge Juan Merchan will allow a defense that actually has nothing to do with the case at hand. 

Do I doubt whether or not District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his prosecution team wants  Donald Trump to be President of the United States or not? Of course they don't want him to be President again. But they're acting completely within the law here. 

Manhattan DA has solid evidence that Donald J. Trump violated New York campaign finance laws back in 2016, when he failed to report the hush money payment that he made to Stormy Daniels, to prevent her from disclosing the adulterous affair that she had with him, while he was not only married to Melania back in 2006, but she was carrying his baby, who turned out to be his son Barron. 

Had the Manhattan hush money story broke in October 2016 when the hush money payment was made, it's very likely that would've hurt Donald Trump with Independents. Which is why he paid her off. The hush money payment is not illegal. The failure to disclose it, which was a campaign contribution to his political campaign, is illegal. At least in New York City. 

The Manhattan District Attorney is just enforcing the laws of New York, in Manhattan. And it just so happens that Donald Trump is still a resident of Manhattan. And he was a full-time resident back in 2016. he's also still running for President, and the Manhattan District Attorney doesn't like him, and they're legally doing what they can to prevent him from ever becoming President of the United States again. 

And anyone who still believes in American liberal democracy and the rule of law in this country, (and hopefully that's a solid majority) should be thanking the Manhattan District Attorney for what they[re doing here.

From what I wrote about Tom Dewey last week: 

"I think to understand someone like Tom Dewey's politics, you also have to understand the politics of the Republican Party back in the 1940s and 50s. And not just in New York, but the entire country as well. 

In Tom Dewey's time, being a Republican was about being in favor of the rule of law, strong national security, strong economy that benefited both workers and management, the U.S. Constitution, equal rights, equal justice, individual rights for everyone. That was what the Republican Party by en-large, before Richard Nixon's silent majority movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s, that was made up of Dixiecrat Democrats who moved into the Republican Party in the 1960s and 70s. "

I give you part of Tom Dewey's speech here, because I want to give you an idea of how different the Republican Party of the late 1940s and really into the 1950s and perhaps even 1960s, when they really were the Grand Ole Party, a party that I probably could've been a member of back then, ideologically and how the MAGA Party (which is supposed to be the Republican Party today) is today. 

Back then, when talking about religion and government, you didn't hear people like Mike Flynn and Jack Posobiec, say that for America to be a nation under god, we can only have one religion. Or that we need to replace American democracy and the Constitution, with their interpretation of the Bible. And we need to become a Christian Nationalist State, instead of the federal liberal democratic republic that we are today. 

I don't mention any of these things to sound partisan, or sound like I hate Republicans, or I hate the Republican Party. I do hate the MAGA movement and what it stands for. I mention these things to point out that what's supposed to pass as the Republican Party today, is not even Republican, let alone conservative. 

The MAGA Party doesn't even believe in Republicanism, let alone conserving the American Republic. They believe in what they call Christian Nationalism or Trumpism. Which is very anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-constitutional, and even Un-American. At least when you consider what they believe in and how their values goes against almost everything that America is supposed to stand for. As the great Ronald Reagan said: "The city on the shinning hill."

At risk of getting really personal and even sounding insulting: doesn't Representative Jim Jordan look and sound like the guy who was forced to other guys homework in high school? As well as give them his lunch money? And yet, he's Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, one of the most powerful members of the entire U.S. Congress. Along with the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, Finance Committee, Appropriations Committees, Oversight Committees, and that's before you even get into the party leaderships in the House and Senate. 

Jim Jordan doesn't even have a law degree, but that's the state of the MAGA movement in the Republican Party. They're basically relying on very inexperienced and unaccomplished people, do to their political dirty work, which is to try to hurt as many Democrats as they possibly can. Speaker Mike Johnson, was basically a House backbencher, before he became Speaker of the House. And his lack of experience and accomplishments in the House, really shows in his speakership right now. 

Having said all that; the fact that House Republicans main witness against Hunter Biden (who just happens to be President Joe Biden's son) is currently under investigation for committing perjury by the U.S. Justice Department, as well as other felonies and that House Judiciary Republicans are relying on Russian Nationalist propagandists, who obviously hate Joe Biden for multiple reasons and want him to lose in November (one way or another) and that's all they have against Hunter and company, just shows you how unqualified that these MAGA members are. 

I mean Chairman Jordan can say that the indictment of their key informant Alexander Smirnov: "Doesn't change the fundamental facts." all he wants. But I guess when you are not even a professional investigator, let alone a lawyer and your whole career in Congress up to this point, has been trying to dig up dirt on Democrats that you don't like and leading government shutdowns, you wouldn't just say that, but you might actually might be dumb enough to believe that as well. 

Jim Jordan, Mike Johnson, and company, are qualified to be leading MAGA super pacs and MAGA political action committees and doing their own MAGA radios shows and podcasts. But that alone, doesn't make you qualified to lead Congressional investigations and serve in government more broadly.
