ABC News: Senator Cory Booker Stages Overnight Filibuster in Senate to Protest President Trump & Elon Musk

"Democratic Sen. Cory Booker was still speaking Tuesday afternoon on the Senate floor — continuing a filibuster he started at 7 p.m. Monday night — in protest against the national "crisis" he says Pres. Trump and Elon Musk have created.

“I rise tonight because I believe sincerely that our country is in crisis, and I believe that not in a partisan sense, because so many of the people that have been reaching out to my office in pain, in fear, having their lives upended–so many of them identify themselves as Republicans," he said Monday night.

The New Jersey senator vowed to last "as long as [he is] physically able."

From ABC News

Also from ABC News about past Senate filibusters:

"On June 12, 1935, Sen. Huey Long, D-La., filibustered for more than 15 hours to require Senate confirmation for more posts within the National Recovery Administration. President Franklin Roosevelt opposed Long’s idea. The Senate’s website says Long’s motive was "to prevent his political enemies in Louisiana from obtaining those lucrative government jobs."

He reportedly read and analyzed each section of the Constitution while he talked and claimed the president’s New Deal programs had made the founding document "ancient and forgotten lore."

Sen. Strom Thurmond, R-S.C., held one of the longest filibusters on record. Historians say in 1957 he talked for 24 hours and 18 minutes in an attempt to block a vote on the Civil Rights Act. He passed the time reading line by line through state laws, already on the books at the time, to protect voting rights and election procedure, as well as opinions from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Other senators have read parts of the phone book and even sang songs.

Later that year, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, took to reading Dr. Seuss’s "Green Eggs and Ham," while holding the floor to oppose former president Obama’s health care law."

From ABC News

When all else fails and there's nothing else to write about, write a blog post about perhaps the least popular institution in America, (other than Donald J. Trump) the U.S. Congress. And if that doesn't put everyone at the Insomniacs Convention to sleep... finally, go even further and make a play to put the rest of the country sleep as well and talk about the Senate filibuster in particular. The U.S. House might suck as well, but at least they get to go home at the end of the day, or to their nearest bar, or country clubs, because representatives aren't allowed to talk their heads off over there.

Anytime you are feeling like the biggest loser and screwup in the world, always remember that there will always be at last 1 institution in America that's even more unpopular than you (other than Donald J. Trump) and screws up even the basics more than you: the U.S. Congress. When they hit 20% as an institution, that's a good day for them. That's worth celebrating for them.

And if anyone wants me to tell you what I think about Senator Booker's speech here, (who is still awake at this point) I'll tell you anyway: call me a cynic... but only because I am. I've been voting since I was 22, all the back to 1998. I've been blogging for 15 years now. I'm seen my share of political corruption and taxpayer funded nonsense. And this has nothing to do with Senator Booker personally. I think he's 1 of the good guys up there.

But to keep this real: the Senator is looking to run for President in 2027-28. He's very intelligent, very likable, sweet, kind of guy, with a very quick sense of humor. If he could put the organization together, he would be 1 of the top 3 contenders for the Democratic nomination 2 years from now. I mean that's what this speech is about: bringing attention to himself, especially from partisan Democrats, who don't think the Democratic leadership, especially in Congress, isn't doing enough to stop Donald Trump and Elon Musk. And the man can deliver a great speech as well. So I hope everyone who had nothing to do for the last 24 hours, who perhaps was at that Insomniacs Convention, got a chance to watch Senator Booker's speech.

ABC News: Donald Trump Sentenced To Unconditional Discharge in New York Hush Money Case

"President-elect Donald Trump was sentenced Friday in his historic hush money case to an unconditional discharge -- allowing Trump to avoid prison, fines or probation, but cementing his status as a convicted felon just 10 days before he takes the oath of office for his second term.

During a brief virtual hearing, New York prosecutors blasted him for engaging in a "direct attack on the rule of law" and making efforts to "undermine its legitimacy" by attacking the judge and others involved in the case. Trump's defense team, which vowed to appeal, said the case should never have been brought and called it a "sad day for this country."

Judge Juan Merchan, who was a frequent target of Trump during the trial, said the unconditional discharge was the "only lawful sentence" to protect "the office of the president ... not the occupant of the office."

"President-elect Donald Trump sentenced in New York hush money case."

Source:ABC News with a look at Donald J. Trump: 45th President of the United States & 34 time convicted felon.

From ABC News

Me personally, I would've liked to have seen Judge Juan Merchan sentenced Donald J. Trump to have to pay a fine based on the hush money payments that he made to the two women in this conspiracy that he tried to get away with 8 years ago and perhaps plus interest. But Donald Trump's convictions will be appealed, so even a fine wouldn't go into effect for like another year.

Plus, Mr. Trump is going to be President of the United States in 10 days and when that happens, enforcing a fine against him, will be almost impossible because he would just say that he's President of the United States and therefor doesn't have to follow local laws and cooperate with local law enforcement.

So based on Mr. Trump's immediate circumstances, this is as good as it gets for anyone who still believes in the rule of law in America. Especially for people who oppose Donald J. Trump. Mr. Trump is not only now a 34 time convicted felon because of all the evidence in this case and that the jury concluded that as well, but he's also now a 34 time sentenced convicted felon. And will remain so probably the rest of his life. Because of all the evidence in the case, the fact that he was charged for crimes before he ever became POTUS, and was tried after he left the presidency the first time and not as President.

ABC News: Judge in Donald Trump's Hush Money Case Sets April 15 Trial Date

Source:ABC News with a look at Donald Trump's Manhattan, New York hush money case involving Stormy Daniels.

"Judge Juan Merchan ruled that former President Donald Trump will stand trial over a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels, beginning with jury selection on April 15."

From ABC News

I think most people who are following these two cases, the Manhattan hush money case and the New York State fraud case against Donald Trump, before they went to bed last night, thought Monday would be Black Monday for Donald J. Trump. He would not only be looking at bankruptcy in New York, which might have been his biggest problem here, as well as Manhattan criminal case getting a start date today.

Well, half of that is right. DJT won his appeal with the New York Court of Appeals and got his bond cut by almost 2/3 to 175 million and now has 10 days to post that bond.

But Mr. Trump is now going to trial and will be stuck in Manhattan for probably a month dealing with his trial there. And not only that, but he'll probably be convicted in Manhattan because the evidence there against him is overwhelming. With the only witness there that could even make an attempt to try to contradict that evidence and the witness testimony, is Donald J. Trump himself.

But Donald Trump testifying for himself, is a like football team at the Super Bowl that forfeits the game, during the pregame show. Nothing good can happen for Donald Trump when he tries to testify for himself. Donald Trump testifying for himself is like a serial liar on trial, whose on truth serum, but doesn't know it, who takes the stand for himself. He ends up incriminating himself almost every time he tries to defend himself.

So DJT's NYC criminal trial should be real-life, reality TV, where Donald Trump will be like an alien visiting another planet for the very first time.

ABC News: Representative Marjorie T. Greene Files Motion To Vacate Speaker Mike Johnson

Source:ABC News looking at U.S. Representative Marjorie T. Greene's (MAGA, Georgia) motion to put Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (MAGA, Louisiana) "on notice".

"Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene filed a motion to vacate the speaker’s chair, threatening to oust Speaker Mike Johnson just months after he ascended to the speakership."

From ABC News

Just for the record: Me giving Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (whose one of the leaders of the Escaped Mental Patients Caucus in the House) is like the police detective, who credits the arsonist (or in this case political arsonist) credit for trying to put out the fire that the arsonist just started. It just doesn't feel right.

But having said that: I'm going to sort of give Representative credit for one thing. I think she might be politically smart enough to know that if she actually filed a privileged motion here in the House and she lost, because maybe 200 House Democrats, or even just 100 House Democrats, along with most of the House Republicans, including a lot, if not most of the MAGA members (who are fellow members of the Escaped Mental Patients Caucus) she would look very weak and perhaps even dumber and crazier than she actually is.

As the ABC News Congressional reporter said in the video: when you file a privileged motion to vacate the Speaker of the House, the House has to vote on that motion within two days, regardless of who files the motion and whether they're a majority or minority member of the House.

The Greene motion is not a privileged motion. So, she might just be putting Speaker Mike Johnson "on notice here", or she might done her own whip count and can count high enough to see that most of the House Republicans would vote against it and a lot of House Democrats as well. And she doesn't want to look even dumber and crazier than she already does. But that's just my theory.

ABC News: Hillary Clinton's Full Concession Speech

Source:ABC News- President Bill Clinton, Secretary Hillary Clinton & U.S. Senator Tim Kaine.
“Hillary Clinton formally and publicly conceded to Donald Trump this morning after an upset defeat in the presidential election.

“Last night I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans,” she said this morning.

“This is not the outcome that we wanted…. and I’m sorry that we did not win this election.

“This is painful and it will be for a long time.”

At one point, Clinton spoke to her younger supporters, saying that they may have career setbacks later, but to carry on.

“This loss hurts but please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it,” she said."

Source:ABC News

I'm going to start with Hillary Clinton's speech here and then go through the election. As Senator Tim Kaine put it, no one ever thought for a second whether or not Hillary Clinton would concede if she lost the election. (Not a partisan statement, just a fact) Because Secretary Clinton respects and loves American liberal democracy. Secretary Clinton said she hopes that Donald Trump is a successful president. And whether you like that fact or not and I and over fifty-million people who voted against Mr. Trump including Republicans, we hate this fact, but if he turns out to be a bad president which a lot of the country fears, it won't be just President Trump who suffers, but America will suffer. If the country goes into recession, sure President Trump will take a hit. But he'll still have a job at least until January, 2021, but millions of Americans will be out of their job wondering what they will do now. If he makes any foreign or national security policy blunders, the country will suffer not just President Trump. So I believe Secretary Clinton had the perfect tone here.

As far as the election 2016 itself, CNN commentator Van Jones who has taken a lot of heat today about the so-called whitelash in the country as he put it, I believe he had the best comment for why Hillary Clinton lost last night. I'm going to paraphrase here but what Mr. Jones said was essentially that the Clinton Campaign was expecting Donald Trump himself would bring African and Latin-Americans to the polls himself against him. And vote overwhelmingly with a huge turnout against the Trump Campaign simply because of the campaign that he ran. And not what the Clinton Campaign offered them and a positive vision for why they should vote for her. That they didn't do  a major investment in Latino and African-American turnout. Unpopular president's can drive the other party to the polls against them during Congressional elections and vote for whoever the opposition party candidate or incumbent is for House or Senate. If you don't believe me, just ask GW Bush and Barack Obama.  But when it comes to the presidency, Americans have to have positive reasons why they should vote for someone. And saying the other guy is horrible is not a good enough reason.

So this election to me is about turnout. The Trump Campaign found whatever is left of the Reagan Democrat coalition in Pennsylvania and the Midwest and that is how they won Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. States where Secretary Clinton had clear leads pre-election day. And the Clinton Campaign didn't get their African and Latino-American base to the polls, as well as Millennial's. That great get-out-the-vote operation that the Clinton Campaign supposedly had, apparently took the night off or fell asleep, perhaps because of how long election 2016 felt. It just wasn't there. 2016 looks like 2004 to me with the Kerry Campaign expecting millions of Gen-Xers and Millenia's, to come to the polls and vote against President Bush. Which was how they expected to win Ohio. But President Bush won Ohio with a hundred-thousand plus votes. When 2016 could have easily had been 1988 where Americans by enlarge thought things were going well and weren't ready to take a chance on a governor with no Federal experience in Mike Dukakis. And stuck with the status-quo in H.W. Bush.

ABC News: World News Tonight-Colin Kaepernick Refuses to Stand During National Anthem

Source:The Daily Review

In life there are followers and there are leaders. There are trend-setters who would be leaders and there are people who follow whatever the latest trend is who would be faddists. Celebrity culture and pro sports is no different, is a very accurate reflection of this. Celebrities feel the need to be cool to the point they'll follow things and claim to support things that in many cases they don't even seem to understand. Ben Affleck, from a couple years ago where he essentially accused Bill Maher of being a racist, because Maher made critical, but accurate statements about Islam, is a perfect example of this. Even though Islam is not a race, but a religion and Muslims can be anyone of any race, since Islam is not a race, but a religion. With today's social media and broader media culture, things can become hot and go or go viral, in an instant. And when that happens, many celebrities feel the need to be associated with it even if they don't understand what they're associating with. Colin Kaepernick, to me at least seems like the latest celebrity faddist and getting on the Black Lives Matter train.

This is not a debate about whether there's racism and bigotry, as well as oppression in America. Because of course there is and we've had as a nation more that two-hundred years of it. This to me is a debate about whether a multi-millionaire San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, is the right spokesperson to address this issue. Who'll be paid eleven-million-dollars by the 49ers this season to be there starting QB. A man who has taken advantage of every opportunity he's had in America as an individual to live in freedom and become filthy rich. Oppression in America, again goes back more than two-hundred years starting with American-Indians. And then Africans being kidnapped from Africa and brought over to be the slaves of European-Americans who the land of the American-Indians. To women of all races not having the right to vote in America until a hundred-years ago. To Jewish and other European immigrants, being denied access in America by Anglo-Saxons, simply because their ethnicity and religion was different from English-Americans. To Latinos and Asians as well. With the Japanese, as well as German and Italian-Americans, being kidnapped and forced into concentration camps. Because the U.S. Government saw them as traitors during World War II.

Colin Kaepernick, has been in the NFL since 2012 and has been a millionaire his whole career. America didn't wake up to oppression when the Black Lives Matter moment started in 2014. We've known about it for over two-hundred-years. That is anyone who took and passed American history in high school. Mr. Kaepernick has had all this time to let his thoughts and views be known about racism and oppression in America. And waits till now when the Black Lives Matter becomes popular and not only that, but isn't putting himself at risk here at all. The 49ers won't cut him over this, because standing for the national anthem is voluntary. And the City of San Francisco is a capital of fads and trends and pop culture and leftist hippies who applaud anyone who takes on anyone they see as 'The Man.' If Mr. Kaepernick loses his job this season, it will have nothing to do with the fact that he supposedly took a stand against oppression. But that he once again failed to perform, and the 49ers have another mediocre or bad season. And head coach Chip Kelly decides to go in a different direction as a result.

Colin Kaepernick, showed no more courage in not standing for a national anthem for a country that has given him no much opportunity as someone who is African-American, to be very successful, than millions of teenagers who bought and wore Malcolm X hats in the early 1990s when the Malcolm X movie came out. Claiming to support a man they probably never even heard of before that movie came out. And perhaps don't have much knowledge about who Minister Malcolm is today. Someone who I have a lot of respect for an learned a lot about. What Mr. Kaepernick has done here instead is make a fashion statement. And use the national anthem of a country that's given him so much opportunity to be as successful as he had, has his target and launching point. Which makes him not different from people who eat whatever the latest hit dish is, or where whatever outfit, or claim to be behind whatever the latest movement or celebrity is. So of course he has the Freedom of Speech (even in the NFL) to do what he did. But he's nothing more than an opportunist when it comes to oppression and fashion statements.

ABC News: 20/20 Diane Sawyer- 1994 Special on The Manson Family

Source: ABC News- Charles Manson-
Source:ABC News

The Manson Crime Family, which is what I call it instead of a cult, because of all the crimes they committed and people they either seriously hurt or killed, is one of the worst crime families of all time with regard to their large number of victims.  Charlie Manson, the leader of this family, was a professional criminal and, until he put the Manson Family together, wasn't a very successful criminal because of all the time he had already spent in prison.

Charlie Manson, even though he was not an educated man (I believe he didn't even make it to high school) is very intelligent and talented, has a quick mind, and knew how to use his mental skills, charm, and narcotics to make people do exactly what he wanted them to do as in the case of middle class, talented, educated, and intelligent people like Tex Watson and the Manson women.

Charlie Manson felt he had been screwed his entire life and searched for a way to express his anger and get his payback.  He found the perfect cast of characters to do his evil work, a group of people who felt lost, didn't fit into the establishment, and were looking for a leader.  They found Charles Manson instead and he led them to ruin their lives and those of the victims and their families.

ABC News: This Week's Powerhouse Roundtable

President Obama did what he needed to do politically with his speech. And without the national security leaks he doesn’t give this speech and we aren’t talking about it right now. Because his National Security Council are doing what they believe they need to do to secure the country. Whether Americans on the Left and Right agree with how they are going about that. The National Security Council will continue to do what they believe they need to do to secure the country. And not necessarily screw people’s civil liberties, but to be real about this, that is not their main interest and main objectives. The Neoconservatives have won the battle as far as liberty versus security when it comes to the National Security Council. And whether the President is a Democrat or a Republican security will continue to come first with them.

ABC News: This Week Powerhouse Roundtable

Chris Christie unless anything comes out that makes it look like he was either involved in the traffic jam. Or someone else close to him in his administration was involved in this story. And Governor Christie was either involved in it or didn't have enough control over his own people. Or looked away on it when he could've stopped it from happening. Unless something like that breaks, Governor Christie will survive this story and be able to run for president in 2016. But he won't be as strong and will give Democrats another issue they'll be able to use against him for three more years basically.

The Bob Gates book the more I hear about it looks like a Secretary of Defense who might of been. Serving a president in the wrong party and that he was serving a president and vice president. That he had clear disagreements with on but wasn't strong enough to take on President Obama. Or Vice President Biden or other members of the National Security Council. Even though when he was in the Obama Administration, Secretary Gates made it clear that he supported his president.

ABC News: Good Morning America: New Jersey Judge Rules in Favor of Same-Sex Marriage

Source:FRS FreeState

Governor Chris Christie should just layoff of this same-sex-marriage case for a couple of reasons. One of them political and the other practical. The political one being that he’s the only Republican that may be able to win New Jersey and other states in the Northeast. And big states in the Midwest if he were to run for President in 2016. But he takes a hard stand against same-sex-marriage that would hurt him in his home state and the Northeast. Even if it helps him with the Christian-Right. The other being a practical one that he would probably lose an appeal in the New Jersey Supreme Court that probably has either a lot of Democratic appointees, or Republicans who are open to same-sex-marriage. There’s nothing for him to gain in pushing opposition to same-sex-marriage except for maybe fundamentalist Christians in the Bible Belt. That probably do not like him anyway because he’s Catholic and from New Jersey and perhaps even that he’s Italian. So he should just drop it.

WJLA-TV News: 'First look: MGM National Harbor Casino Plan Unveiled'

Source:WJLA News- an employee for MGM.

"Here's a look at what MGM wants to build at National Harbor as part of their casino project."

From WJLA News

National Harbor would be a perfect place for a casino, because of all of the people it would bring in. Because of the location attracting people from the Washington suburbs in Maryland, but also Virginia and Baltimore and Frederick as well. Bringing in a lot of new tax revenue for Prince George’s and the state of Maryland. And the good jobs that it will also bring to go with the tax revenue. And also allow for Maryland to really live up to being the Free State that we call ourselves by allowing for Marylanders to make their own decisions about gambling and other forms of entertainment.

ABC News: This Week- Striking Syria: This Week’s Roundtable

Source: ABC News-
Source:FRS FreeState

President Barack Obama, in the political battle of his life trying to make the case two years late in my point of view. We should’ve been debating and talking about military intervention in Syria in 2011. Which would’ve saved million of lives. But as the saying goes, it is what it is. And President Obama is in the political situation that he is today and will have to make a very good case. To avoid losing embarrassing votes this week in Congress. The case for going into Syria, is like that in the Balkans in the 1990s. Bosnia and then later Kosovo. Saving innocent lives from being murdered by their own government. And giving the Syrian rebels a fighting chance, literally, to take on the Assad Regime and hopefully defeat them. And bring a more responsible government to Syria that can hopefully be represented of the country. And govern Syria responsibility. But we do nothing, innocent Syrians will continue to be murdered by their own government. Why the West says that’s awful and you shouldn’t do that. But without the, stones to do anything to stop them.

ABC News: This Week: Senator Ted Cruz Discusses Opposition to President Obama's Newtown Gun Agenda

Source:FRS FreeState

Anytime you are real popular in your party even if you’ve only been office for a short period of time, like in U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’s case and you are a Governor or U.S. Senator, you have to at least consider running for President at that point. Because it might be the best shot that you get and you may never get another shot at it. And if you are a U.S. Senator or a Governor of a major state and you are popular, you would almost be silly not to consider running for President. Because of what you would be able to do for your state and country. Which is what Senator Cruz is doing right now. Which is why Senator Cruz, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rand Paul, are all looking at running for President in 2016. Because they may never get another opportunity like this again. And may have issues in the future that prevent them from ever running for President again.

ABC News: VSpecial Report: DOMA Overturned by SCOTUS, Punt on Prop 8

Source:FRS FreeState

If you are a true believer in states rights and just don’t just use that term to push your partisan ideological agenda, but then disagree with states rights when a law is passed that you disagree with, then you should like this decision whether you are personally in favor of same-sex marriage or not. Because this is a pro-federalist position, because it says that marriage is still a states issue. That the Federal Government has no business in interfering with how states regulate marriage.

If you are a defender of the Equal Protection Clause which I clearly am as a Liberal, then you should like this decision, because it says that government state or federal can’t discriminate against people simply based on their sexuality gay or straight. That when you pass a law that says straights can get married, but gays can’t, you are judging people and giving them or denying them status based on their sexuality. You do not have to be a lawyer to figure that out, its pretty obvious.

The other thing I like about these decisions is that it does not create any new power for the Federal Government. It continues to limit the Feds which is where Justice Anthony Kennedy is on the side of the proponents of this decision. There are those on the Left let’s call them Progressives, who are looking for gay marriage to be the law of the land. In other words give the Federal Government the power to decide who can get married and who can’t. Rather than the states making that decision for themselves.

And then the courts would still be able to rule on the constitutionality of those decisions or not. Marriage is still a states issue and they can write their own marriage laws that would stand as long as they are within the United States Constitution. Which has been the true conservative position in this case. That marriage is a states issue and this is about federalism, rather than the Feds deciding who can get married and who can’t. So if you are a real Conservative like George Will or Ted Olson a lawyer in the Prop 8 decision, whose against Prop 8, then you should like this decision as well.

So I believe the Supreme Court hit a home run both on DOMA by ruling it as unconstitutional. But also saying that the court ruling on Prop 8 that overturned that gay marriage is still valid. Allowing Gays to continue to get married because Prop 8 is unconstitutional because it violates the Equal Protection Clause. While allowing for the people and states to continue to officially weigh in on same-sex-marriage. Just not giving them the last word necessarily.

ABC News: Good Morning America: Representative Michele Bachmann Won't Run For Re-Election

Source:FRS FreeState

I know we are supposed to have a citizen Congress with citizen Representatives and Senators who are supposed to represent the people. And as the great political satirist George Carlin once said, our politicians come from us and represent us. They come from our communities, go to our schools and so-forth. Live in our communities, so we can’t really complain about the politicians that we have. Especially the House district that Representative Michelle Bachmann represents.
I mean here’s a community that first elected Michelle to the U.S. House and then reelected her three times. And had a better choice in at least two of those elections 2010 and 2012. I’m not familiar with her first two opponents, so the people who Michelle Bachmann is supposed to represent can’t really complain about. Who represents them unless they didn’t vote for her and they would’ve perhaps moved to another House district in Minnesota. Where mental patients and escaped mental patients would be ineligible to run or serve in Congress, but they didn’t do that. But if George Carlin is right and our politicians are us, then America has a lot of problems.
The good news is that Michelle Bachmann is leaving the House of Representatives and Congress. And they’ll have one less lets say oddball among them, an eccentric member. And the House Intelligence Committee should actually receive more intelligence in the next Congress with Representative Bachmann no longer among them. Unless Michelle is replaced by someone less qualified, which would be a real scary thought. And we’ll have at least one less person claiming that same-sex marriage is a threat to national security. And actually believing in what they are saying in Representative Bachmann’s case.
Michelle who says big government is a threat to our freedom, but then proposes a constitutional amendment that would outlaw pornography. And give Uncle Sam the ability to control what Americans can do in their homes and personal lives. So there will be one less contradictory member of Congress and one less hypocrite. These are all good things and I’m not complaining. But as a blogger who sometimes writes satire, this is bad news and its bad news for comedians because a lot of our material comes from statements that Michelle Bachmann makes. So hopefully she’ll find a way to stay in the public eye. Perhaps as a verbal punching bag.
Michelle Bachmann’s long journey of her long hard-fought presidential campaign of 2011, all four months of it ended. Her presidential campaign was run so badly that she ran for President in 2011 even though the presidential election was in 2012. She ran for President during the wrong year and then ended her campaign in December, 2011 after losing her birth state the Iowa Caucus in 2011. She considered running for U.S. Senate in 2012.
At least Michelle would’ve run for Senate in a year where there was a Senate election. Against Senator Amy Klobuchar, which would’ve been Democrats best shot of knocking Michelle out of Congress completely. Because she would’ve lost to Senator Klobuchar. But instead Michelle had decided to do her constituents and state a favor and not run for reelection. And give Minnesota time to recover for her time in office.

ABC News: Pope Francis Elected: Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina Leader of Catholic Church

Source:FRS FreeState

It's not so much that I don’t believe in God, I’m Agnostic officially, which is the reason I’m not very religious, but I tend to not only look at politics as a Liberal, but also at life as a Liberal. And its not that you can’t be a Liberal and be religious. America is a liberal democracy and by far the most religious country in the Western world outside of South America at least. And we have a lot of Liberals in this country including in the Democratic Party who are very religious.
The reason why I’m not very religious, is because I tend to look at my politics though a liberal lens and believe in things like individual freedom and a high degree of tolerance as far as how we judge and treat people. That individuals should have a high degree of freedom in how they live their lives as long as they aren’t hurting innocent people with what they are doing. And what you get from a lot of these Christian as well as Islamic faiths is a high level of intolerance and that there’s only a certain way for people of faith to live their lives and that freedom should be limited.
If there was a religion and maybe there is and I haven’t found it yet that believed in things like individual freedom and not looking down on people just because they drink or smoke or dance, live with their girl or boyfriends before they get married, pre-marital sex, having kids together before they are married, didn’t look down on gays for being gay, watched adult entertainment, gambled their money. All of these things that at least the Religious-Right in America views as immoral and if anything should be outlawed. If there was a Religious-Left that was truly about tolerance and freedom, then maybe I could be part of that.
If there was a religious-left that was truly liberal and not Socialist, the Religious-Left in America tends to be more socialist than liberal ,but if there was a real religious liberal movement in America, that was truly about treating people the way you want to be treated and was really about individual respect and so fourth, do on to others what you want done to you, then I would have more respect for religion in America.
It's not that I can’t be religious as a Liberal, but that I can’t be part of a religion that puts down people just because of how they live their personal lives. Even if they aren’t hurting any innocent people with what they are doing. Where there isn’t any real level of privacy and where we are all supposed to be collectivists and members of a larger group. Instead of being allowed to just be ourselves and live our own personal lives.
