"The Trump legal news just keeps coming. Judge Cannon denied Trump’s motion to dismiss, but Jack Smith is still in a bind. The election interference criminal trial against Trump kicks off on Monday in New York. Don't worry -- George Conway will explain it all to Sarah Longwell (and you!)."

"Daniels, who has claimed that she slept with former President Donald Trump in 2006, is expected to be a key witness when the hush money case goes to trial.
Adult film star Stormy Daniels detailed in a documentary released this week how she has faced increasingly violent threats following former President Donald Trump's indictment last year on charges related to hush money payments that involved her.
Daniels, in the documentary "Stormy," described how her life was transformed in 2018 when she publicly claimed she'd had sex with Trump more than a decade ago. It was reshaped again in March 2023, she said, when Trump was accused of falsifying business records surrounding payments made to her in 2016. Trump has pleaded not guilty, and he has denied that he slept with Daniels.
After the indictment, Daniels said, former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen texted her to express his fear for her safety. Her address was soon leaked online.
Daniels, who is passionate about horses, recalled an incident at her home that involved someone trying to draw out a horse she owns in hope that she would come outside.
"They shot him with the rubber bullet," Daniels said.
The horse survived but still had marks from where it was shot.
Daniels also received threats on social media, with users saying "hope you die b----," as well as message telling her to kill herself and one saying she "will die and be forgotten," along with a slew of vulgar insults and obscenities. She has previously detailed some of the threats lobbed at her.
"The justice system failed me," she said in the documentary, which is streaming on NBC’s streaming service Peacock. "It has absolutely failed me in every single way."
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was no stranger to threats before the indictment. She said she feared for her safety and that of her family when she started speaking out against Trump.
"I was completely sure that I was going to die," she said.
Daniels added that while she was on a performance tour, she purposely limited her visits home to maintain a sense of normalcy for her daughter.
"I can't be home for more than 24 hours because then press parks in my f------ front yard and she can't ride her bike," Daniels said in video included in the documentary.
"I have to stay away from her," she added.
Daniels is expected to testify in Trump's hush money trial, which could start in mid-April. A judge recently rebuffed Trump's efforts to keep her and Cohen from taking the stand for the prosecution.
Trump faces criminal charges in three other cases, none of which have trial start dates."

Sometimes I really Like NBC News. Not so much MSNBC, especially their left-wing commentators/political activists like Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes. (Unfortunately just to name a few) Even though I do like Stephanie Ruhle, Katy Tur, Andrea Mitchell, and their legal affairs correspondent Lisa Rubin, but their hard news reporting from their correspondents, like Megan Lebowitz and many others, especially over at the network news division, is still very good.
It took more than a half of this Bulwark video to finally get into what's really the Manhattan and perhaps all of New York City's, 2016 election interference case.
Yes, Donald Trump paid Stephanie Clifford (perhaps better known as Stormy Daniels) 100,000 dollars to not reveal the affair that they had with each other 10 years earlier, when Donald's wife Melania, was pregnant with his son Barron.
And of course in September and October of 16, Donald Trump was running for President against Hillary Clinton. He was already bleeding support and voters to Hillary (at least according to the polling) with women. Including Republican women, at least in the cities and suburbs. And apparently Stormy told Donald and his then lawyer Michael Cohen, that she's going to release their past affair to the public, right before the election in November. Trump and company obviously didn't want that to happen, which is why he paid her off to keep her quiet.
Yes, Donald Trump paid Stormy Daniels 100 grand not to reveal their affair. And that's hush money. And yes, DJT cheated on his wife while she was pregnant with his son. But he's not being charged for adultery or even hush money. He's being charged with filing false business records in New York relating to this payment, as well as not reporting this campaign contribution that he made to his campaign, to keep Stormy Daniels quiet in this case and not cost himself more voters. Which is why this is an election interference case.
Since this case broke in the spring of 2018, Donald Trump first denied it and then lied about it, then basically admitted to not just the affair, but the payment to her to keep her quiet. But now he's treating her like a whore, gold digger, etc. A "whore" and "gold digger" that he committed adultery with, while his wife was pregnant with his son, that she can now help to prove that he's a criminal and make him a convicted criminal.
