This is The New Democrat's 3rd post about this issue this week, 2nd today, because it's important.
You have a Vice Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, who wants to use Democratic Party funds, to defeat his fellow Democrats. Just think about that. We're not talking about some left-wing, outside, political action committee, who doesn't like this representative or senator and wants to defeat that person because they're part of "status quo" or whatever the excuse is at the time for trying to defeat Democrats who are not Socialists. We're talking about not just a Democrat, or a Democrat in leadership, but a Democrat at the DNC level, trying to use his party's funds, to defeat his fellow Democrats.
That poses 2 questions:
What's the point of having a Republican Party, when the Democrats can defeat themselves?
What's the point in even having voters, when the David Hogg's of the world will take the responsibility on themselves "to make sure that we have the best Democrats in office and running for office?"
And I didn't hear Alicia Menendez speak there, but I think that's what Symone Sanders and Michael Steele were trying to get across to David Hogg here. And they were both national party committee members in the past. Michael Steele goes by "Chairman Steele" because he was the Chairman of the Republican National Committee back in 2009-10. Symone Sanders was a member of the DNC herself.
And you don't need to a political genius or scientist, or have been in politics the last 40 years to know that it's not the job of the party leadership to defeat their own incumbents who are already in public office. Their job is to defeat members of the other party who are either running for office, or are already incumbents themselves. But Mr. Hogg doesn't seem to grasp that obvious point.
As my colleague Fred Schneider said on Monday:
"He was acting like he's the party leader, or the leader of the left-wing Democrats in America.
Clint Eastwood's most famous role and I believe his best role, was as San Francisco Police Department Inspector Harry Callahan from those Dirty Harty films in the 1970s. 1 of the famous lines from those films is: "A man's got to know his limitations". Meaning, he has to know his role in life, why he's here, what he's supposed to be doing in life... is how I would translate that. To put it more modern pop culture vernacular: "A man has to know his lane".
When David Hogg is old enough, he can run for Governor of Florida and talk about his social democratic agenda for that state and how government should be used to take care of everyone. And if he gets elected Governor of Florida, as a Democrat, he could then run for President, where he would be a in a great position to talk about what the Democratic Party should be about and how he would lead it. But while you are literally just a volunteer for a national committee, at 1 of the 2 major political parties in America, your job is to help run that committee. Not to try to lead the Democratic Party yourself and layout exactly what the party should be about and what should stand for."

And as Derik Schneider said today:
"If David Hogg, Kyle Kulinski, or any other leftist in America doesn't like the Democratic Party, or the direction it's going in, or both... we're talking about a party with a 29% approval rating, so that's a mainstream belief, but if this is how they feel, they have a few viable options:
Start their own left-wing political action group outside of the Democratic Party and start recruiting other leftists to run for office as Democrats.
Join the Green Party. At least there you won't look like crazy hippies, who sleep on the beach every night, because almost everyone in that party either does that, or looks like they do that.
Run for office as a Democrat and get elected. Join your fellow "Squad" members in the House once you are elected.
Or, you can do what Kyle Kulinski does, what Sam Seder does, what The Young Turks does, and many other leftists in America and speak out on your own platform about what you don't like about the Democratic Party, knowing that you are way outnumbered ideologically and culturally and try to reform the party as the outsiders that you are.
But when you are in the Democratic Leadership, (which is what David Hogg was) you have a responsibility to defend that party and to protect it. Not try to defeat your fellow Democrats because they're not Socialists, or you think they're too old, or not cool enough."
From The New Democrat
I'll give David Hogg credit for 1, very small thing (even though it might not sound small at all) and this will sound very frank: the man has enough balls to start his own race... medium size country, at least. I mean complaining about a "Democratic civil war" and this effort to fire him from his job as DNC Vice Chairman, and talking about the need to focus on Donald Trump and MAGA instead, when he's literally trying to use Democratic Party funds to defeat his fellow Democrats, from the DNC level... it's no wonder why he's at real risk of losing his job right now.
