At risk of making fun of Kyle Kulinski, a lot: hearing a leftist calling Democrats who are old enough to be his father, mother, grandparent, etc, "geriatric", is really funny. But there's no punchline there. It's like hearing a homeless drunk talking about how great they used to be. But he looks like 1 of those bleach blonds from 1997-98, who is simply trying to look younger and cooler and he's calling veteran Democrats "geriatric".
I'm old to remember back in the early summer of 2024, when only the left-wing of the Democratic Party... really the only people in the entire country, who wanted President Biden to stay in the presidential race... they were accusing mainstream Democrats of "agism" because the leadership of the party wanted the President to drop out of the presidential race. And now these high school student council Democrats, are calling veteran Democrats "geriatric", because they're not left-wingers. They're not trying to "take down the man", or shutdown the government, or pulling any college student body stunts like that.
In case anyone actually wants to know what David Hogg's job is, (perhaps was, at this point) at the Democratic National Committee, I'll tell you anyway. As Mr. Hogg told Bill Maher on Friday:
"So that job really helps to play a role in managing a lot of what the DNC focuses on, which is things like the presidential primary. It's helping to lead the campaign and waiting for the president. It's helping to manage the debate schedule and helping to support our state parties and local parties around the country.
It's a volunteer role, I should add, as well. So it's entirely a volunteer capacity. So nothing."
So, when you are in the leadership of the Democratic Party (which is what the DNC is) it's not your job to try to defeat your fellow Democrats. I know that sounds as obvious as:
if you jump in a lake, you'll get wet
you play with fire, you could get burned
you try to eat dirt, you could get thirsty
you drive drunk, you could get into an accident, etc.
That's what David Hogg was trying to do at the DNC. He was trying to divert campaign funds from the Democratic Party and use that money to recruit younger, hipper, lefter, Democrats, to primary veteran, mainstream, Democrats. Democrats who were in safe seats, that the leadership didn't have to worry about and could use those funds too, I don't know... run against and defeat Republicans. (Just throwing a thought out there) Mr. Hogg was essentially trying to sabotage his own party, at the leadership level, and perhaps not even smart and experienced enough to that's exactly what he was doing.
As my colleague Fred Schneider said on Monday about David Hogg:
"He was acting like he's the party leader, or the leader of the left-wing Democrats in America.
Clint Eastwood's most famous role and I believe his best role, was as San Francisco Police Department Inspector Harry Callahan from those Dirty Harty films in the 1970s. 1 of the famous lines from those films is: "A man's got to know his limitations". Meaning, he has to know his role in life, why he's here, what he's supposed to be doing in life... is how I would translate that. To put it more modern pop culture vernacular: "A man has to know his lane".
When David Hogg is old enough, he can run for Governor of Florida and talk about his social democratic agenda for that state and how government should be used to take care of everyone. And if he gets elected Governor of Florida, as a Democrat, he could then run for President, where he would be a in a great position to talk about what the Democratic Party should be about and how he would lead it. But while you are literally just a volunteer for a national committee, at 1 of the 2 major political parties in America, your job is to help run that committee. Not to try to lead the Democratic Party yourself and layout exactly what the party should be about and what should stand for."
From The New Democrat
If David Hogg, Kyle Kulinski, or any other leftist in America doesn't like the Democratic Party, or the direction it's going in, or both... we're talking about a party with a 29% approval rating, so that's a mainstream belief, but if this is how they feel, they have a few viable options:
Start their own left-wing political action group outside of the Democratic Party and start recruiting other leftists to run for office as Democrats.
Join the Green Party. At least there you won't look like crazy hippies, who sleep on the beach every night, because almost everyone in that party either does that, or looks like they do that.
Run for office as a Democrat and get elected. Join your fellow "Squad" members in the House once you are elected.
Or, you can do what Kyle Kulinski does, what Sam Seder does, what The Young Turks does, and many other leftists in America and speak out on your own platform about what you don't like about the Democratic Party, knowing that you are way outnumbered ideologically and culturally and try to reform the party as the outsiders that you are.
But when you are in the Democratic Leadership, (which is what David Hogg was) you have a responsibility to defend that party and to protect it. Not try to defeat your fellow Democrats because they're not Socialists, or you think they're too old, or not cool enough.
