Tim Miller & Sam Stein: Why the Hell Is Kristi Noem Carrying Around $3,000 in Cash?!

"Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem fell victim to a thief while eating dinner at a downtown Washington, DC, restaurant Sunday night, the secretary confirmed Monday.

Noem, who was asked about the theft at the White House Easter Egg Roll, acknowledged the incident and said the matter has not been resolved.

The Secret Service, which provides security for Noem, reviewed security camera footage at the Capital Burger restaurant and saw an unknown white male wearing a medical mask steal her bag and leave the restaurant, a law enforcement source said.

The thief got away with Noem’s driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, DHS access badge, makeup bag, blank checks, and about $3,000 in cash.

The Secret Service has launched an investigation to trace any use of Noem’s financial instruments, the person added.

“Her entire family was in town including her children and grandchildren – she was using the withdrawal to treat her family to dinner, activities, and Easter gifts,” a DHS spokesperson said...

I would say that: "The New Democrat has been all over Kristi Noem for 13 months now. Just not in the way you might think we have been. (Get your head out of the gutter. MAGA sleeps there.)", but that's simply not true... for multiple reasons. This is just our 3rd piece about her and my first doggone piece (pun intended) about her: 

"My theory for why Kristi Noem decided to do this, is she's a much smarter politician than she seems to want anyone whose not inside of her South Dakota circle to know. I think she believes that Donald Trump is a loser, whose going down, because he's going to lose overwhelmingly with women. And even lose too many Republicans with all his legal baggage, including the fact he could be a two-time convicted felon before election day in November and that will make it too hard for him to beat President Biden in November. And she doesn't want to be part of that electoral catastrophe. And she sure as hell doesn't want to get blamed for it. But that's my theory."

"Does anyone who is currently sane, sober, and intelligent, (who isn't 1 of Pete Hegseth's drinking buddies) think this little c-film from Noem Productions, are going to to prevent Latin gangbangers and terrorists, as well as just innocent people from those countries, who are simply trying to escape the poverty and crime of those countries, from trying to come to America, legally, or illegally? Anyone want to make that bet?"

I don't want to have too much fun about this story, because as someone who is an avid cyclist, I've had 3 of my bikes jacked from me just in the last 5 plus years. So I know something about this and what that experience is like to be robbed. But "too much" might be the key words here. When you are a player who should be in the rookie leagues and your official nickname is "not ready for prime time", or "Dog Gone Kristi Noem", a lot of bad, humorous, things are going to happen to you when you are in the majors, simply because you don't belong there and are well-unqualified to be there. 

This latest doggone (pun intended) story about Kristi Nome... gives someone a lot of freedom to speculate and make fun of. The obvious questions being: 

Where the hell was the Secret Service? (To paraphrase The Bulwark) 

How did this person who was wearing a freakin mask, (for crying out loud) get anywhere near the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security? And goes to the first question about the SS. 

Why is someone who is making $246,000 a year, who collects a lot more than that, when you are talking about all the travel, meals, security, etc, she gets at taxpayer expense... doing with $3,000 in cash on her? Someone making that kind of money, you would think would have credit cards to spare. 

And of course the passport: does she ever go home? And I'm not talking about South Dakota, where she belongs and she can just be their problem. But she must have an apartment, or townhouse, in or around Washington. 

So now the fun part. I'm not saying I know the answers to these questions, but this is me speculating, perhaps even in a humorous way:

So is the answer to the first question: "Where the hell was the Secret Service?", 

Kristi Noem is so unpopular even the Secret Service don't like her? 

Or, dogs are part of her security and they were just trying to protect the dogs "from that doggone (pun intended) woman?" 

And the question about the person with the mask: maybe they thought he was just a MAGA person who simply wanted the Secretary's autograph, who represented no threat to her? Maybe they thought he just wanted to congratulate her for doing such a doggone (pun intended) good job? 

And why is Kristi Noem's carrying $3,000 in case on her and at a restaurant? Maybe she's had enough of Washington and Donald J. Trump, and she was simply to trying to make a break for it, after she had a good meal? That could perhaps answer the passport question as well. But again, I'm just speculating here.
