My colleague Fred Schneider earlier today got into why Donald J. Trump's wife Melania, has been absent from her own husband's criminal trial. This is his theory, that's back up by one of Melania' former longtime assistants, both in New York and in Washington. 

"But, as Melania's own former aid Stephanie Winston Wolkoff told CNN anchor Jake Tapper and SW Wolkoff does know Melania very well, I mean she worked for her in New York and at The White House, her marriage with Donald is transactional. 

Every relationship that Donald J. Trump has ever had has been transactional. So why would the relationship with his youngish and still very youngish looking, gorgeous, babydoll wife, whose still better looking than his daughters, be any different? She's with Donald as long as that's good for her. 

Melania has been taking a beating at her husband's criminal trial so far. It's not just his affair with Stephanie Clifford (also known as Stormy Daniels) that's now public, but the details of it. But not only that, how her husband paid her off. But add to that, she didn't seem concern by it and was behind the strategy as far as how the Trump Campaign would play the voters in the media about the Access Hollywood tape back in October, 2016. 

If Melania Trump is the loving wife who stands by her man, you would think she would make a public appearance at her own criminal defendant husband's criminal trial. If for no other reason to get the media and voters to believe that she stands by her man. Even if she actually thinks he's guilty as hell publicly. Unless of course she believes the case against him and perhaps even knows her husband is guilty. And is staying away from him sort of as marital retribution."

I think the best way to look at Donald Trump's family, his kids, his children-in-laws, his own, damn, wife, Melania, and their lack of support for their father, father-in-law, and even husband, is to look at the Trump Family in of itself. 

I'm not an expert on the Trump Family. Also in the news: I'm not an astronaut, who moonlights as a brain surgeon on the weekends. But only when I'm on vacation as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. In other words: I'm not George Santos. And what I mean by this is that I don't have any personal, insider, knowledge, about the Trump Family. I like most Americans whose interested in American politics and current affairs, have to rely on the actual insiders to sort of make my own conclusions about these stories. 

And I'm telling you this also because looking at this family from the outside, they're not a family in the traditional, biological, and marital sense. They're a national, real-life, American, realty TV show, that's business and financially driven. The old cliche: "What have you done for me lately" is pretty much what this family lives by, regardless of the person's biological or marital relationship with them. I think that's obvious from what we've seen and heard about them the last 9 years now. 

I think the simplest answer to why Donald Trump's own kids, his son-in-law, his daughter-in-law, soon to be daughter-in-law, (unless Junior Mint ends up in jail, rehab, or broke himself) his own damn wife, have not shown up to support a man they claim to publicly love, is because they know the case against them, perhaps believe it, and don't feel like they can afford to be seen supporting a big loser in public. Because that would be bad for their brand. Which is really, along with their money, the only thing that the Trump's actually care about. At least in private. 

As far as Senate MAGA, (as I call Senate MAGA Republicans) other than Crazy Marge, also known as Moscow Marge, (who some people call Marjorie Taylor Greene) these senators are the only Republican members of Congress to show any official support for their Dear Leader Defendant Don, at the Manhattan courthouse. I guess Speaker Mike Johnson made a half-ass (to be be frank) appearance for Defendant Don today. But he didn't actually go into the courtroom itself. 

If all of us are the people we associate with, Donald J. Trump is getting exactly who he deserves and is exactly who he deserves to be. Which is a man whose surrounded by professional boot-lickers, who are simply trying to get something from him and raise their profiles.
